Looking for a good summer read? I highly recommend David Wroblewski's "Edgar Sawtelle". Kage recommended it to me and it is also an Oprah Book Club 2008 Selection. Edgar Sawtelle is a boy who was born mute and speaks only in sign. He lives on a farm in remote northern Wisconsin where the family has raised and trained a fictional breed of dogs for generations. It is a brilliant family saga and unbelievably David Wroblewski's first novel. I walked every step of Edgar's journey through life with him. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I thought it was an excellent read as well.
I recommend watching the podcast with the author and oprah interviewing him. He was fun to listen to....
Even though I read an interview with the author saying that he did not intend the Hamlet parallels to dominate his novel, I found them to be a really fascinating part of his storytelling.
