How do you say good bye to such a loyal friend?

Yesterday, I said good bye to my van..... I drove this van for 12 years. It had 218,000 miles on it! Four heads used to consistently bob in the back seats. This van has been to Florida, California, Idaho, New York, Michigan, Minnesota, Virginia, Maryland, Oregon, Tennessee, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and all the states in between.....It helped three teens learn to drive. It has chauffeured two brides. It has been to piano lessons, church, school, the grocery store, the temple, soccer practices, etc, etc. It has been the means of taking groups of people hither and yon. It never let me down. It was with a tear that I said good bye yesterday. I will miss you! Thanks for the memories!

Love Scarf Project Delivery

Friday, we took the Love Scarf scarves to the Edward Hospital Cancer Center. We could not take all of our girls for delivery due to new visiting procedures from the H1N1 virus.

The nurses and staff were so thrilled and so excited to receive this gift of love. We delivered 113 scarves!
This is our first recipient. She wanted a purple scarf. Meeting her made our day.

The Mayor's Prayer Breakfast

Our city's YMCA has been hosting a Christmas Mayor's Prayer Breakfast for five years now. Kage was invited to sing at the first two breakfasts and then again this year. This year, she sang "When Joseph Went to Bethlehem", "Mary, Did You Know?" and "O Holy Night". Unless you have seen Kage sing in public, you will not know what I am talking about. Kage does not "perform". She bears her testimony through song and moves people to tears. During "O Holy Night", you actually think you are there in Bethlehem. Every year, the audience has risen to their feet at the conclusion of "O Holy Night".
Kage's accompanist was someone she worked on a show when she was a Freshman in high school. DTA assisted him with page turns.

Five hundred people come to the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast. It is the hottest ticket in town!

After the breakfast, the YMCA sold Kage's CD and she autographed them.

So I have been doing a little sewing.....

So I have been doing a little sewing.....I am not a great seamstress. My forte of late has been making pillowcases. My niece, JLK, suggested that I try my hand at making some aprons. So, DTA went out of town in November and I set up my sewing machine and became a crazed apron maker! As I embellished the fabric with wrick wrack and ruffles, the euphoria I felt was indescribable! What fun I had! I decided to start a new tradition of bringing Christmas in at the conclusion of the Thanksgiving feast. So after our dinner, we all gathered in the living room and I distributed Christmas bags. Each girl in our family received a handmade Christmas apron made by me! The "mothers" got full length aprons with fabric accents from their daughters' Christmas aprons and vice versa.
Meanwhile, in another living room, in another state, the Glass Posse opened their Christmas aprons!

Coco, my mother and I received aprons of a different style....three layers of different Christmas fabric with pom pon edging.

The men's Christmas bags contained a pair of red socks!

Little O loved her apron so much, she slept in it! A true sign of adoration!
